While in the planning phase of a move:

When To Arrange For A Quotation?

Leave no stones unturned while searching for an international relocation company. After all, you will have to trust them to move your home.

We recommend that you start researching at least 12 weeks before your planned departure date.

What’s The Best Way To Calculate The Cost?

When it comes to moving your belongings by air, sea or road you need to know the total volume of your goods. In order to calculate this, you have to multiply the length, breadth and height of each item, to calculate the volume of your goods in cubic feet.

When it comes to air freight shipments, you calculate on either the entire volume weight of the goods or the gross weight, whichever is more.

Relocation Consultants understand the nuances of the calculation and will properly measure all your goods during their pre-move survey consultation at your home. This will enable a quotation to be provided for your consideration.

What Exactly Will A Quote Include?

There is no fixed rule to provide a quote. BTR International will look into all your individual requirements and then provide you with a personalised quote.

The following are a guide of the various services which make up a quote:

  • All packing materials
  • Goods collected from home
  • Crating and delivery to the terminal
  • Preparation of import and export documentation for Customs Clearances
  • Payment for terminal charges
  • Delivery charges
  • Unpacking and even clearance of waste materials during delivery
  • Does BTR Offer A Worldwide Relocation Service?

Based out of UK, BTR has a strong network of 480 global partners and we execute global relocations.

Does BTR Offer Transit Insurance For Goods?

In addition to our effort to ensure your shipment safety, we highly recommend Insurance purchase for all your items to protect your interest and prevent any unexpected losses during transit.

BTR International takes all the necessary precautions to protect your items, but there are sometimes situations beyond our control that need to be considered during transit. These include weather, accidents, vibration, shock, pressure, movement and atmospheric changes.

After we have completed the packing of your goods, there will be additional handling by other organisations for example, airlines, shipping companies, and other destination agents. Therefore, we recommend that you consider transit insurance for your international relocation.

To ensure complete protection and total peace of mind against unforeseen circumstances, we provide you Transit Insurance Cover policies.

Are There Any Items, Which Are Prohibited In Shipments?

Each country has different rules and policies, so the restriction orders are different. Therefore, as a general rule we recommend that you do not include the following:

  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Hazardous items (which might include bleaches, adhesives, detergents, ammonia, dyes, chlorine, disinfectants, gas cylinders, flammables, mercury thermometers, insecticides, photographic chemicals, methylated spirits, thinners, paints, pesticides)
  • Items that are made from endangered animals
  • Unprocessed furs, skins
  • Pornographic material
  • Swords, spears, switchblades
  • This list isn’t exhaustive and BTR will advise you further during the move.

Can I Add/Remove Items From My Move Plan?

You need to contact your move coordinator if you wish to add or remove any items from your move plan. Your move coordinator has the expertise to help you if you wish to make any changes. We recommend that you keep in mind your cost estimate may change.

How Do I Prepare For The Packing Day?

BTR has an expert team of experienced professionals who will take care of all your relocation needs. You should be present for the entire day on your scheduled packing date. If this is not possible, we suggest an authorised representative from your side to be present during packing.

How Do I Prepare My Appliances For Moving?

Make sure to disconnect appliances like refrigerators, washers or dryers. If you wish to use the original packing materials for TV and other appliances, please show the supervisor the original cartons and packing materials and identify which items go with which cartons. The supervisor will inspect and take a decision to use the original or BTR’s custom packing materials.

Will BTR CXrew Pack And Unpack My Possessions?

BTR are experts in international packing, and we will pack all of your belongings with the upmost of care, providing all packing materials. The crew will also unpack your goods after delivery of your shipment.

What If I Choose To Self-Pack A Few Of My Things?

We recommend that as there are many countries that have security issues that you do not personally pack. We also do not recommend as if there are any damages to self-packed items your goods would not be covered under transit insurance provided by BTR.

So, we advise that you allow our crew to do all the packing for you.

Will I Be Able To Track My Shipment Online?

BTR provides high tech relocation solutions through its in-house IT process Relo Smart. So, wherever your shipment might be in this world, you can track it with just a click.

What Process Is Followed After My Goods Reach The Destination Country?

Do I Have To Be At The Destination For My Possessions To Clear Customs?
